Doing the easy training works well for k-space exploration sites. However, you will not be able to narrow down the truly lucrative k-space sites as it seems like the sig strength is lower the more valuable the site is. And those people are welcome to do those sites.
The more extended training, involving getting multuple 5x and 6x skills to a decent level- you are going to need that, with the addition of named equipment and rigs, to do wormhole mapping in any reasonable amount of time. It also helps a lot if you are mapping in a non-covops hull, especially considering you may not be able to fully kit out with scan rigs. People with astro 3 flying a Probe are going to spend all day trying to fully map a well-populated WH.
Your meta-skills, in other words- your method of scanning and mapping- does more for you than skills will. I was getting sites faster than my more-skilled counterparts when I started simply due to my methods. Skills just add icing to that. =)
System is fine. They made it more acessible, but it's by no means easymode.

Uh, shortening the time is fine- which is what having higher skills does for you.
I didn't say increasing my skills didn't affect my scanning time- it did. A lot. I also didn't say any noob with low skills can do as well as a vet, because they can't. Player skill is a huge factor. Someone new to scanning with a max skill character still won't be as fast as a scanning vet.
What IS true is that an intelligent person, or a vet, can equal or exceed someone less competent with better character skills. A veteran player with a low SP noob doing just fine? Surprise! This is how the whole game works.
I mean, even after everything is mapped, you're not done. You still have to harvest the sites. So why make it impossibly time consuming to do? As it is, the mapping time cuts into the profit..

Originally by: Maxwell Terallis Exploration isn't dead, it's just dead for the people who define it by the way it used to be.
Exploration has changed now, and is very much alive for anyone who wishes to do it. If your enjoyment of exploration has been diminished because others are able to do it, it sounds like you're suffering from a bad case of entitlement.
Didn't see this before. QFT
